MORNING YOGA CLASSES DURING THE EVENT!
We're stoked to announce that Garden of Zen Yoga Studio will offer a 45-min all-levels yoga class every morning of the festival from 7:15AM to 8:00AM, directly at the racing venue and free of charge to all registered participants! The class will be tailored with the racers in mind, targeting sports-specific major and secondary muscle groups. It will be taught at an all-levels/beginner-friendly intensity.
"Why are we interested in participating? We're making yoga accessible to any and all who are seeking well-being, mindfulness, and balance in their lives," said Del Snyder, owner of the studio. "That's the reason why we opened our doors in the first place. A windsurfing event seemed like a fantastic opportunity to hold true to our story and share more yoga with everyone!
We are of the mindset that yoga will become more accessible through exposure, education and opportunities provided to the community, and so we took it as a huge compliment when Sheila Majka, a dear and longtime friend and student of ours, informed us of her personal recommendation that we be the studio to provide these classes. It will be an absolute honor and most exciting opportunity for our studio to offer yoga classes as one of your event’s sponsors!
What are the benefits of yoga? Enhanced focus and concentration through breathing and/or visualization exercises, as well as enhanced performance prior to one’s race or sporting event. Through practicing conscious body/mind-awareness - AKA - sending oxygenated blood to the muscles to be utilized through the practice of intentionally linking a sequencing of poses with the breath that begin with an appropriate warm up. Studies also show a reduction in pre-race/event anxiety/nervousness, as well as decreased risk of mid-event/post-race injury!
Why Garden of Zen Yoga Studio: Regardless of instructor represented by GOZ on any given day during the Festival, each 45-minute class will be based on exercise science to include sports-specific-sequencing of poses specially selected by our manager/private and group yoga instructor/head personal trainer: Mary Snyder. Mary holds a B.S. in Exercise Science/Kinesiology and has over 13 years of experience as a certified personal trainer and group exercise instructor in a variety of class styles and formats.
